Bridging the Gap: Introducing Virtual Guide Dogs at ‘See Hear Remember’

At Red Nought, our core philosophy is simple: technology should bridge gaps, not create them.

For the past 18 years, we’ve been involved in adventures that aim to push boundaries, but the work we are doing on Virtual Guide Dogs, centered on accessibility and independent navigation, feels like the most significant chapter yet. Since we were awarded the government grant in October 2025, our team has been working to develop a solution that doesn't just assist, but empowers.

That project is Virtual Guide Dogs, and we are thrilled to announce that we will be showcasing this technology at the upcoming "See Hear Remember" event on June 16th at Theatre Severn.

Technology with Heart: Virtual Guide Dogs

Building immersive technology, specifically tools utilizing spatial audio and haptic feedback can often feel cold or overly complex. We wanted to change that. We needed a way to translate our "Red Forge Engine" into something that felt approachable and human-centric.

That is where Suzie comes in.

A detailed, full-color photograph of a cartoon-style yellow dog mascot, wearing aviator goggles and a red bandana with a white letter 'R', sitting at a high-tech office desk. The dog is actively typing on a mechanical keyboard with colorful keys. Two monitors display data: the left one shows lines of code and a map with colorful routes, and the right one features the text "SYSTEM READY. SEE HEAR REMEMBER. 16 JUNE.". The desk also holds a white coffee mug with "Suzie" printed on it, an open notebook with tech diagrams, a 'VGD' branded multiple-phone charging dock with several phones, and various pieces of advanced tech and a 3D printer in the background. A calendar on the wall behind the desk has June 16th circled in red. The setting is an advanced technology R&D lab

Why 'See Hear Remember' Matters

For us, building tech isn’t done in a vacuum. It requires deep collaboration with the people who will actually use it. The "See Hear Remember" event is a vital opportunity for us to step out of the studio and into the real world.

We are incredibly grateful to Sight Loss Shropshire for arranging such a meaningful event and to Theatre Severn for hosting. We aren't just there to demo a product; we are there to listen, learn, and engage with the community. Our goal is to ensure that our navigation tools are as intuitive and effective as possible, and that feedback is the foundation of our progress.
